Number of seasons

The tents are generally classify by the number of seasons when these can be used. Thus, there are models of 2, 3 and 4 seasons and convertible.

2-seasons tents

2-seasons models are lightweight and these have, in general, a low factor of impermeability. These are recommended to be used in spring and summer. Not always resist well to wind and rain, but they’re cheap, and those who will really need a tent in which to sleep, can use these products. Generally, it is less recommended.

Their characteristic is their ventilation system which is very well developed, the large nets facilitating the air flow. This tents, generally, have 2 poles.

3-seasons tents

Models of 3 seasons are the most sold. Most of the tents for sale belong to this category. Can be used for spring, summer and fall. Few are those who stay in a tent during winter. Most tourists are interested to protect themselves from rain and they are interested also that their product behave well in the conditions of a summer/fall storm.

These models have 3 poles of duralumin or fiberglass. Two supports the tent, and the third above intersect with these two at the maximum point.

A model of 3 seasons can satisfy claims that most tourists have, corresponding to the situations they will encounter. 3 seasons models are recommended in most situations: in camping, sea , mountain or fishing.

Note in the case of these models is that the inner tent nets can be completely closed.

4-seasons tent

Besides the fact that this type is very resistant to rain, the way when you set up your tent is preventing the snow to get inside, even in blizzard conditions. They can be used in any season, including winter. If you want to go to the mountains or at the sea with friends, such a model is useless. Besides the extra costs and the high weight, the material characteristics gives a low breathability, so in the summer, inside the tent will be a stale air.

These models are extremely stable, can withstand the strong wind. In a snow storm, nothing can get inside. These have at least 5 poles of Duralumin, which intersect at least 5 times (created 5 knots).
