Camping has become more and more popular.

tips-for-camping-equipment-storage-2With that selfsame rising popularity, a variety of camping supplies are available for campers to choose from, and are available in most camping supplies stores, as well as in other outdoor specialty shops. What most campers don’t know is that there are actually things known as “smart” camping supplies which most people already have inside their own homes.

Certain items common in most households are known to be actually the ideal, if not better, alternatives to more commercially inclined camping supplies. More often than not, commercially marketed camping supplies do boast certain benefits, but come with quite a price tag on them.

Here are some of these common home items which actually stand well as camping supplies.

The Good Old Garbage Bag

As camping supplies, garbage bags are amazing. For starters, they are light, giving campers the benefit of not necessarily having to bring more heavy stuff along during a camping trip. Second, garbage bags could be used for various camping related needs.

A camper could use a garbage bag as a stuff sack, a pillow, a tent patch, should one’s tent be having some problems, a makeshift tarp, a length of rope, for tying things, an “extra bandage” to add pressure on a wounded area, and as a garbage bag.

Anyone who has experienced the wild outdoors knows just how valuable having a multi-function device could be. Cargo pants are much more ideal than regular pants, as cargo pants have more pockets to put stuff in. A Swiss Army pocket knife would serve more of a purpose, compared to a regular knife, as a Swiss Army pocket knife boasts other items like scissors, or a magnifying glass.

With Garbage bags, camping trips could really find some essential use for them, especially in times of emergencies. Keeping the campsite clean would be easier to do with garbage bags, as they are basically items where people put their garbage in. As “other” camping supplies, garbage bags could easily take their place, making them among the most popular of “smart” camping supplies.camping

The LED Flashlight

LED flashlights stand to be among the “smartest” of camping supplies, simply for being what they are. Lightweight, and requiring only a small reservoir of energy, LED Flashlights shine brighter than regular flashlights, which are mostly larger. Certain types of LED Flashlights are known to be so small, certain items like disposable cigarette lighters, and/or survival knives are fitted with them.

All in all, bringing along a LED Flashlight during a camping trip could save one from the extra load.

All in all, the two above mentioned items are simply examples of “smart” camping supplies. There are others out there, but these two simply stand out as “smart” camping supplies.
